Gabriela Cámara

Gabriela Camara, born in Chihuahua, is an internationally recognized chef and restaurateur.  She has opened more than 10 restaurants including Contramar in Mexico City, which she opened at the age of 23. Aside from being a businesswoman, she has been widely recognized for progressive efforts within the sustainable food communities.

We visited Gabriela at her newest restaurant in Roma Norte; Castacan.

 TIME AFTER TIME

Morning routine: stretching, drinking hot water with lime, cold shower.

Drink of choice: water.

Nighttime ritual: 20 minutes of reading whatever book I’m reading.

Favorite workout: yoga.

Current uniform: LERET LERET, so happy the weather is allowing it again!

Off-duty activity or hobby: long walks and hikes

Guilty pleasure to (wonderfully) waste your time: good stationary, pens, markers and all sorts of art supplies.

Smartest advice ever received: if you enjoy cooking, never open a restaurant (too late!)

Most inspiring trip: Machu Picchu.

Best gift you ever got: my son.

Most memorable meal: I fortunately have many, most of them an association of deliciousness combined with togetherness

Three objects you think will stand the test of time: my great grandfather’s carving knife which I use almost daily, my fountain pens, my collection of hand crafted fish from different corners of the world
