Katie Stout

Katie Stout is a New York based designer. Born in Portland, Maine, Stout grew up in New Jersey and holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design.

She utilizes an assorted range of media and regularly unexpected techniques. Her body of work, described as “naïve pop”, includes seating, shelving, lighting, mirrors, carpets and curtains.

Katie lives in Brooklyn, NY where we photographed her in limited edition No. 01, No. 13 and No. 14 and sat down for a lightning Q&A session.

Smartest advice ever received:   Alice Lichtenstein once told me “Its ok to not know how to talk about your work”. I don’t know if it is the “of all time” advice but it was really freeing.

Most inspiring trip:   Shroom trip at Lookbook Island 

Best gift you ever got:   My Nicola L. Impenetrable piece from Nina Johnson

Most memorable meal:   Vegan meal made for me and Jeff by Clare de Boer from King Restaurant!
